Paul J. Rosen, a Portland and Vancouver acupuncturist , graduated with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences degree in Chemistry (major) and Mathematics and Philosophy (minors), from Western Michigan University. He also holds a Doctorate of Laws from Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington. Mr. Rosen subsequently achieved a Master's of Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperors College in Santa Monica, California, where he graduated with honors. Oriental Medicine includes the disciplines of acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na (massage), dietary and nutritional therapy among others. Mr. Rosen continued his education in acupuncture and herbal medicine by earning a postgraduate Certificate of Achievement in Shanghai, China. He later completed more advanced acupuncture training in Stans, Switzerland. And most recently he graduated from the leading edge nutritional program with a Master's of Nutrition Response Testing. As a licensed Portland and Vancouver Acupuncturist he has continued postgraduate education in many areas of natural medicine including diet, nutrition and health improvement program design.

In his chosen field, Mr. Rosen is recognized as an accomplished acupuncturist, having presented papers before his peers at the annual Dr. Richard Tan, OMD conference in San Diego in 2002,2003 and 2004. Dr. Tan is considered by many acupuncturists in the field of Oriental Medicine to be a master of acupuncture, having founded "The Balance Method." In addition, his peers in the Portland and Vancouver acupuncture community recognized Mr. Rosen when Complementary Healthcare Plans of Oregon, a leading credentialing organization for insurance companies, featured him in their July 2000 publication.

Mr. Rosen's most recent dedication has been to gain knowledge in the area of effective health improvement program design that surpasses the currently accepted model of 'symptom management'. To that end, he has studied with Dr. Freddie Ulan, D.C., CNT, and Dr. Lester Bryman, D.C., founders of Nutrition Response Testing. As a Portland and Vancouver acupuncturist, he is now recognized by Dr's Ulan and Bryman as a leader in the field, often called upon to train others in the art of Nutrition Response Testing.

Mr. Rosen has appeared on Portland network television (KATU-ABC), demonstrating acupuncture on both adults and children. In addition, he appeared regularly on FVTV, Vancouver, Washington's only community access channel. Besides television, he has appeared on local radio stations KBOO, KPDQ and KISN.   PAUL'S STORY

I, like you, desire to stay healthy, active and take care of loved ones. I, like you, ate well (or so I thought), took vitamins, had regular checkups, exercised regularly and believed I knew what I was doing. I was introduced to whole-food nutrition as a teenager and later in my life studied oriental medical and became a practitioner. But in 1996 everything went terribly wrong.

After a fishing trip in Idaho while waiting for a plane home, my heartbeat became irregular. I found myself in the emergency room of the local hospital. After being examined, I was told I was dehydrated and was released. Upon returning home, I experienced a deep fatigue, couldn't get from the bed to a chair without assistance, had continuing heart irregularities, panic attacks and a feeling of suffocation. The list went on and on. I reduced my hours at work and saw every kind of health practitioner: homeopath, osteopath, acupuncturist/herbalist, chiropractor etc. Each discipline helped a little. But years passed~I had reached a plateau. I was stuck!

Then in 2002 a friend introduced me to Dr. Freddie Ulan and the work he called Nutrition Response Testing. Dr. Ulan evaluated me, finding I had thyroid exhaustion, an immune challenge and digestive enzyme deficiencies. He put me on a health improvement program of whole-food supplements and dietary changes. Within weeks, I began to feel better. I hadn't felt that good in years. Amazed, I began to increase my professional studies, taking courses, doing research, and reading extensively about nutrition and Nutrition Response Testing. I applied what I had learned to my acupuncture patients who were not progressing and the results were undeniable. I was able to crack the toughest cases. I emailed Dr. Ulan and asked him to teach me everything he knew. Fortunately for me he is doing just that.
